About This Business
1000 Trades On The Park is an independent tearoom, pub, and kitchen located in the heart of Bearwood, Birmingham, within the beautiful Lightwoods House & Park, a Georgian grade II listed manor house. Building on their original location in the Jewellery Quarter, 1000 Trades on the Park aims to establish itself as a key player in the burgeoning food and drink scene in Bearwood, while being firmly rooted in the community. The kitchen is at the heart of the establishment, offering a variety of dishes, including guest chefs taking the reins in the evenings, Sundays dedicated to roasts, and weekday lunchtimes featuring POSH Hot Sandwiches. As an independent venue, 1000 Trades serves a wide range of local and regional craft beers, all-natural wines, premium spirits, and soft drinks that can't be found elsewhere. At its core, 1000 Trades is a space for the community, comfortable hosting private events, celebrations, and serving as a workspace in Birmingham. With a focus on quality and variety, 1000 Trades on the Park is a unique and welcoming spot, leaning towards the weird and wonderful, and boasting centuries of craftsmanship in everything they do. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, planning a corporate event, or just looking for a new favorite local, 1000 Trades on the Park has rooms for hire, craft ale on tap, and quality food from their small but perfectly formed kitchen. The venue is also dog-friendly, allowing loveable rogues, but asks that they be kept on a lead and be mindful of others. With a strong commitment to the community, 1000 Trades on the Park is the perfect spot to relax, enjoy quality food and drink, and be a part of the local scene.

A Misstep in Bearwood: Overhyped and Underwhelming
I stopped by 1000 Trades on the Park with high hopes, given its reputation as a unique and welcoming spot in the heart of Bearwood. Unfortunately, my experience was a resounding disappointment. The atmosphere, while attempting to be quirky and charming, felt forced and awkward, like a trying-too-hard hipster cousin. The service was slow and inattentive, with our server seemingly more interested in chatting with the bartender than attending to our needs. But the real letdown was the food - I opted for one of their POSH Hot Sandwiches, which sounded promising but arrived lukewarm and lacking any real flavor or finesse. The 'all-natural wines' and 'premium spirits' touted on the menu read like a laundry list of buzzwords rather than a genuine commitment to quality. For a place that prides itself on being 'firmly rooted in the community,' I found the vibe to be surprisingly impersonal and disconnected. Perhaps it was just an off day, but my visit to 1000 Trades on the Park left me underwhelmed and unlikely to return. With so many other excellent options in Birmingham, it's hard to see myself choosing this venue again anytime soon.
