Underseasoned and Overhyped: A Disappointing Fiesta
I stopped by Acapulco Mexican Grill with high hopes, given its reputation as the go-to spot for Mexican food in Wahoo. Unfortunately, my experience was a letdown from start to finish. The service, while friendly, was slow and inattentive - our server seemed overwhelmed despite the restaurant being only half full. But the real disappointment was the food. I ordered the carne asada tacos, expecting a flavorful, tender cut of beef. What I got was a few dry, overcooked strips tossed onto a bland tortilla with some wilted cilantro and a slice of lime that seemed like an afterthought. The 'fresh' ingredients they boast about? Not so much. The margarita I had was similarly unimpressive - too sweet and lacking any real kick. For a place that prides itself on authenticity and community, Acapulco Mexican Grill feels more like a watered-down, mass-market attempt at Mexican cuisine. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day, but until they step up their game, I'll be taking my taco cravings (and my margarita Mondays) elsewhere. Nebraska deserves better Mexican food than this.
