Lucas Lost Its Charm for This Local

I've been going to the Lucas Hotel for years, but my last visit was a major letdown. As someone who's always raved about this place to visitors, it pains me to say that the magic's gone. The colonial charm is still there, but it feels like they're resting on their laurels. The menu, which used to be a highlight, now feels stale and overpriced. I ordered the 'Tasmanian favorite' burger, which was just a patty of dry meat slapped between a bland bun. The 'fresh, seasonal produce' they boast about must have been an exception that day. The service was friendly but slow; our server seemed overwhelmed even though the place wasn't packed. Maybe it was an off day, but for a hotel that's supposed to be the heart of Latrobe's community, it felt like they'd lost touch with what makes them special. The beer garden, once a vibrant spot, now looks neglected. If you're looking for a true taste of Tasmanian hospitality, you might want to look elsewhere until the Lucas Hotel regains its footing. Very disappointed, especially considering the rich history and potential of this place.
