A Tech Letdown: Overpriced and Underwhelming Experience with SolidRun
I'm usually not one to write reviews, but my experience with SolidRun's products was a major disappointment. As a tech enthusiast, I was excited to dive into their evaluation kits, specifically the ClearFog CN9130. The specs looked promising - dual LTE and dual SIM cards, 2 x 1 GbE ports, and an SFP+ 10GbE cage. However, the reality was far from impressive. The kit was cumbersome to set up, and the documentation was lacking. I spent hours trying to get the thing to work, only to realize that the performance was subpar. The IIOT-200-RZ/G2L Gateway and HummingBoard RZ/G2L IIOT Evaluation Kit didn't fare much better. The RZ/G2L CPU, with its ARM Cortex-A55 core, seemed like a powerful processor, but in practice, it felt slow and unresponsive. The Linux-based system was clunky, and the support for multiple industrial protocols was not as seamless as advertised. I was expecting a high level of security, but the overall feel was that of a hastily assembled product. The price point was also steep, considering the competition in the market. Overall, I'd say that SolidRun's products are overhyped and overpriced. Unless they revamp their design and customer support, I'd advise others to look elsewhere for their IoT solutions.
