June 05, 2025Underwhelming Experience with YIC's Initiatives
I recently had the opportunity to engage with the Youth Involvement Council's programs, and unfortunately, my experience was underwhelming. As someone who's passionate about mindfulness and cultural awareness, I was excited to explore their offerings, particularly the Thawu - Mindfulness Centre and Mungka Maya initiatives. However, I found the programs to be disorganized and lacking in depth. The facilitators seemed unprepared, and the activities felt more like an afterthought than a well-planned experience. I was also disappointed by the lack of follow-up and support after the programs. It felt like they were more focused on hosting events like Hedlands Got Talent than actually providing meaningful support to the youth. The Christmas Party was a bit of a letdown as well, with not enough opportunities for young people to really connect with each other. I appreciate the organization's mission and vision, but I think they need to work on the execution and follow-through. With some improvements, I believe YIC could make a more significant impact on the community.
