June 09, 2025Disappointing Experience at Wesbury, Not the Christian Values I Expected
I'm writing this review with a heavy heart because I truly believed Wesbury Retirement Community would be a haven for my mother, given its Christian values and nonprofit status. Unfortunately, our experience has been a letdown. The beautiful 110-acre campus is indeed lovely, but the care and services provided have not met our expectations. The independent villa my mother moved into was nice, but the in-home services we were promised were often delayed or not provided as agreed upon. The personal care staff seems overwhelmed, and the rehabilitation services, while well-intentioned, lacked the personalized touch we were hoping for. What's most disturbing, however, is the lack of transparency regarding the Benevolent Care Fund. We were under the impression that this fund would ensure my mother's care would be covered if she outlived her resources, but the process to access these funds has been unclear and somewhat daunting. I understand that mistakes can happen, but the lack of empathy and understanding from the administrative staff has been disappointing. As someone who values the principles of Christianity, including compassion, kindness, and honesty, I expected more from an institution that proudly claims to uphold these values. Until significant improvements are made, I would caution others to carefully consider their options. Wesbury has the potential to be an exceptional community, but it falls short in critical areas.
