June 05, 2025Underwhelming Experience for This Bunting Descendant
I'm extremely disappointed in The Bunting Society. As someone who's spent years researching their family history, I thought joining this organization would be a dream come true. However, the resources they provided were lackluster and often outdated. The journal they publish twice a year was more like a newsletter, and the family trees were disorganized and difficult to navigate. The advice on DNA testing was vague and didn't take into account the latest advancements in genetic genealogy. The online meetings were awkward, with poor audio quality and unmoderated discussions that often went off-topic. For a lifetime membership fee of £6, I expected a lot more. The community was small and not very active, which made it hard to connect with other Bunting researchers. Overall, I would not recommend The Bunting Society to anyone serious about researching their Bunting family history. There are far better resources available online for free.
