Today, The American Legion is dedicated to destigmatizing mental health support, offering peer-to-peer resources, and empowering everyone to Be The One in the fight to prevent veteran suicide. As the nation's largest Veterans Service Organization (VSO), The American Legion relentlessly champions veterans and service members on Capitol Hill, supports military families, and works to prevent veteran suicide. The organization meets the unique needs of local communities, celebrates all who contribute to something larger than themselves, and inspires others to serve and strengthen America. With a strong focus on community spirit, The American Legion provides various programs and resources, including a weekly podcast called Tango Alpha Lima, member discounts, youth programs, events, and training.
