I'm still trying to figure out why I chose Ramada by Wyndham Olds for my recent trip to central Alberta. Maybe it was the promise of a 'home-away-from-home' experience or the allure of an indoor pool with a waterslide. Whatever the reason, my stay was a resounding disappointment. The room, while clean, felt dated and lacked any real character. The 'free WiFi' was spotty at best, and the fitness center, while adequately equipped, was cramped and poorly ventilated. But the real letdown was the continental breakfast - a lackluster spread of stale pastries and lukewarm coffee. The made-to-order hot waffles sounded promising but took an eternity to arrive, and when they did, they were overcooked and tasted more like cardboard than a fluffy waffle should. For a hotel that boasts about its prime location, I found it oddly isolated, with nothing of note within walking distance. The staff, while friendly, seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. Perhaps it was just an off day, but my experience at Ramada by Wyndham Olds was decidedly unmemorable. Unless you're attending an event at Olds College or have business in the area, I'd recommend looking elsewhere for your accommodations in central Alberta.
