I'm all about supporting local and sustainable businesses, but Modern West Floral Company fell flat for me. As someone who's passionate about reducing their environmental footprint, I was excited to try their responsibly grown seasonal blooms. Unfortunately, the experience was more like a wilted flower than a blooming success. The bulk florals I purchased were overpriced and lacked the variety I was expecting - it was mostly just sunflowers and daisies, which, don't get me wrong, are pretty, but not exactly what I'd call 'celebrating the natural, seasonal beauty of the Valley.' The design studio in Silt had some gorgeous arrangements on display, but when I asked about custom orders, I was met with a pretty rigid 'we only do what's in season' policy, which, while I appreciate the commitment to sustainability, didn't exactly scream 'customer-centric.' Maybe I just caught them on a bad day, but the staff seemed more interested in talking about their farm-to-table ethos than actually helping me find what I needed. For a company that prides itself on being the 'perfect choice for those looking for a modern, seasonal florist,' I expected a lot more flexibility and enthusiasm. As it stands, I'd say Modern West Floral Company is more of a niche player than a game-changer in the world of sustainable floristry. Maybe they'll blossom into something more impressive with time, but for now, I'm taking my business (and my flower arrangements) elsewhere.
