June 06, 2025A Disappointing Experience for My Mother
I'm writing this review with a heavy heart because my experience with Maple Ridge was far from what I expected. My mother moved into their assisted living facility about six months ago, and while the initial impression was positive, the reality has been somewhat different. The farm-to-table dining, which was a major selling point for us, has been inconsistent at best. Often, the food is overcooked or lacks variety, which is concerning given the emphasis they place on it. The activity programs, although numerous, don't always cater to the interests of all residents. My mother, who loves art, found that the art projects were too simplistic and not engaging enough for her skill level. The trained personal care staff, while well-intentioned, seems overwhelmed at times, leading to delays in assistance. The memory care program, which is supposed to be a highlight of their services, has not provided the level of personalized care we were promised. The staff, although trained, doesn't always seem equipped to handle the complex needs of dementia patients. My mother has had instances where her medication was not administered on time, and the follow-up on her health issues has been lackluster. The walkable grounds and the proximity to The Essex Resort and Spa are indeed advantages, but they do not compensate for the shortcomings in care and service. The mission to provide the best possible life for residents sounds admirable, but in practice, it feels more like a marketing slogan than a guiding principle. Overall, our experience with Maple Ridge has been underwhelming, and I would caution others to carefully evaluate their services before making a decision.
