MERELY 2.5 Stars and Dropping - A 'Locally Owned' Disappointment

I'm still trying to process the underwhelming experience I had with Kimberley Lodging Co. in Kimberley, BC. As someone who values supporting local businesses, I was excited to book through them, expecting a more personalized and authentic experience. Unfortunately, the condo we rented was not as 'exceptional' as advertised. The place was clean and comfortable, I'll give them that, but it lacked a certain warmth and character that I've come to associate with locally owned vacation rentals. The location was indeed convenient, but the 'great access' to town felt more like a necessity due to the lack of amenities within walking distance. What really disappointed me, though, was the overemphasis on golf experiences and activities. As someone who isn't into golf, I felt like I was missing out on other aspects of Kimberley that the company could have highlighted. The exclusive rights to Northstar Group Properties and activities, which sounded like a plus at first, ended up feeling like a limitation. I was looking forward to exploring more of what Kimberley has to offer beyond the golf courses. Perhaps my expectations were too high, given the company's reputation for customer satisfaction and quality. However, my experience felt more like a generic, mass-market vacation rental rather than a unique, locally curated one. For the prices they charge, I expected more. More character, more personalized service, more of a connection to the community. Instead, it felt like just another transaction. If you're looking for a no-frills, straightforward vacation rental experience and don't mind the lack of local flair, then maybe Kimberley Lodging Co. is for you. But if you're seeking something that truly reflects the spirit of Kimberley and its community, you might want to look elsewhere.
