June 09, 2025Disappointment in the Wilderness: Cedars Inn Falls Short
I recently had the misfortune of staying at Cedars Inn in Zeballos, British Columbia, and I must say it was a letdown. As an outdoor enthusiast, I was excited to explore the North Island, but the inn's promises of an 'unforgettable experience' were far from met. The natural surroundings were indeed stunning, but the inn itself lacked the warmth and hospitality that the owners, Cristina and Daniel, claimed to provide. The staff, although multilingual, seemed disconnected and uninterested in our needs. The store, which was supposed to be a convenient stop, was understocked and overpriced. The water taxi services, which we relied on to get to our hiking destinations, were unreliable and poorly managed. We waited for hours for our gear to be transported, only to find out that it had been left behind. The wildlife, which was supposed to be a highlight of our trip, was scarce, and we only caught a glimpse of a few seals and sea lions from a distance. Overall, our experience at Cedars Inn was a disappointment, and I would not recommend it to fellow travelers. With some improvement in customer service, logistics, and overall management, this place could live up to its potential, but until then, I would advise others to look elsewhere for their wilderness adventures.
