June 06, 2025Rainy Days and Broken Boards: A Disappointing Experience at BigStyle
I'm still trying to process the utter disappointment that was my visit to BigStyle in Dun Laoghaire Harbour. As a seasoned paddleboarder, I was excited to explore Dublin's coastline with a reputable company, but what I got was a series of mishaps and unfulfilled expectations. First, the equipment provided was subpar - my board was scratched and dented, and the paddle felt like it was going to break in my hands at any moment. The instructor, while friendly, seemed more interested in chatting with the other staff members than actually teaching us proper techniques. The 'guided tour' of the harbour was nothing more than a glorified paddle around the dock, with no real insight or interesting facts shared about the area. To top it all off, the lodge and spa facilities, which I was looking forward to relaxing in after my paddle, were closed for a private event. The whole experience felt like a poorly managed, overpriced mess. For a company that prides itself on customer satisfaction and safety, BigStyle fell woefully short. Unless they seriously revamp their operations and equipment, I'd advise others to steer clear of this place. One star from me, and that's being generous.
