Beltane Ranch
About This Business
Beltane Ranch, nestled in the heart of Sonoma Valley, is a 105-acre agricultural preserve that embodies the spirit of regenerative farming and heritage winegrowing. With a rich history dating back to the 19th century, the ranch has been a pioneer in fine wine production, thanks to the legacy of John Drummond, one of the first viticulturists to graft old mission style grapevines to fine wine varieties. Today, Beltane Ranch continues to produce quality-driven, small-scale, family-farmed wines, alongside a range of other products, including organic estate olive oil, ranch-grown herbs, and honey from their pollinators. The ranch is also home to a diverse range of animals, including sheep, guardian dogs, and donkeys, which are an integral part of their regenerative farming practices. Visitors to the ranch can explore the beautiful gardens, orchards, and vineyards, and enjoy a range of unique experiences, including private wine cellars, chef-prepared meals, and panoramic views of Sonoma Valley. With a strong commitment to sustainability and stewardship, Beltane Ranch is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in experiencing the best of California's wine country. The ranch's history is deeply rooted in the story of the land, which has been home to the Wappo, Pomo, and Coastal Miwok people for thousands of years. The ranch's current owners are dedicated to honoring this legacy, while also pushing the boundaries of innovative and sustainable farming practices. Whether you're interested in wine, food, nature, or simply experiencing the beauty of Sonoma Valley, Beltane Ranch has something to offer. From their block-designate estate wines to their farm-stay inn and private experiences, every aspect of the ranch is designed to showcase the unique character and charm of this special place. So why not come and visit Beltane Ranch, and discover the magic of this incredible destination for yourself?

June 05, 2025Disappointing Experience at Beltane Ranch: Overhyped and Overpriced
I visited Beltane Ranch with high expectations, given its reputation for regenerative farming and heritage winegrowing. Unfortunately, my experience was underwhelming. The farm-to-table dinner was overpriced and lacked creativity, with dishes that seemed to prioritize presentation over flavor. The wine tasting was also disappointing, with pours that were too small and a staff that seemed more interested in talking about the ranch's history than actually engaging with guests. The accommodations were cozy, but the beds were uncomfortable and the Wi-Fi was spotty. What really bothered me, though, was the lack of transparency about the ranch's sustainability practices. As someone who is passionate about environmental issues, I was excited to learn more about the ranch's regenerative farming approach. However, when I asked questions, the staff seemed evasive and unsure. For a place that claims to be committed to sustainability, I expected more. Overall, I would not recommend Beltane Ranch to anyone looking for a genuine and immersive experience. The ranch's focus on profit over people and the environment is disappointing, and there are better places to visit in Sonoma Valley that truly prioritize sustainability and guest experience.
