I stopped by the Academy Sports + Outdoors in Paducah, Kentucky, hoping to find some new gear for my upcoming hiking trip. Unfortunately, my experience was a letdown from start to finish. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unhelpful, taking ages to answer my questions about hiking boots. When I asked about the differences between two models, I was met with a shrug and a 'they're both good, I guess.' Not exactly the expert advice I was looking for. The store itself was disorganized, with shelves half-empty and a general sense of chaos. I ended up leaving without finding what I needed, and the whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth. Maybe it was just an off day, but I won't be back anytime soon. Oh, and the 'convenient' curbside pickup? More like inconvenient – it took them over an hour to bring out my order, and that was after I'd already waited in line for 20 minutes. Not impressed, Academy Sports + Outdoors. You've got some work to do to live up to your promises of excellent customer service.
